THE CASE STUDY PROCESS

Here’s what to expect: an easy process for your clients and a hands-free, rewarding experience for you.

The Discovery Phase

To get started, I’ll ask a few questions to learn about the goal of your case studies, your audience and the key ideas that are important to emphasis. If we’re a good fit, I’ll send over a proposal and invoice for 100% payment up front to reserve space on my calendar. Next, we’ll schedule a 45-60 minute kick-off call to go more in-depth about your company, products and services, and marketing messages. We’ll identify:

  • The key benefits for your featured client and develop the “pitch” for approaching them  that highlights the advantages of participating
  • The goal of your case study, the target audience, and principal ideas to feature
  • The best format and length of the cases

What you’ll receive:

  • An email template that you can customize (to your clients inviting them to participate)
  • Project management from start to finish

Once your featured client has agreed, I’ll handle the rest of the case study process.

What I need from you:

  • Signed proposal + payment (and then we begin!)

The Research & Interview Phase

After our call kick-off call, I will do my homework and research your industry and featured client. If you have a demo or pertinent marketing materials, I’d love to see those, too. Next, I will set up a call with your client to conduct a 45 to 60-minute  interview. What you’ll receive:

  • Email introductions to relevant team members and to your client (you will be included as much or as little as you like)
  • A copy of my interview questions (the goal here is to get a strong return on investment metrics by aligning client comments with your value proposition)
  • Recording of the client interview (if available, and upon request)

The Writing Phase

Here’s where the magic begins. Your client interview will be transformed into a powerful sales and marketing tool that builds trust and lands sales. The success story will inspire with conflict, challenge, emotion, and facts (including success metrics if your client can share actual numbers).

The case study will be provided in a “feature story” format, that allows readers to quickly scan to absorb the headline, subheads, and pull-quotes.

What you’ll receive:

  • A draft of your case study in approximately two weeks of the client interview for review and input.

The Approval Phase

I will manage the entire approval process and ensure everyone involved has signed-off on the final draft of the case study starting with you first, then your client.

What you’ll receive:

  • An approved case study (in Microsoft Word format)

Design (Optional)

I can also transform your case study into a professionally designed sales and marketing tool ready for digital or print sharing. Design fees are quoted separately. What you’ll receive:

  • A final case study in PDF format
  • One of the most powerful ways to create a meaningful connection with your audience.

That’s the case study process! Questions? Email me here.
